Well, last week we took Moose to the vet because he had an enlarged stomach. The vet said just wait it out and bring him back on Tuesday if his stomach was still enlarged.

Today, his stomach was the same if not bigger. He couldn’t even fit through his doggie door to go outside. So we took him to the vet and dropped him off this morning. They sedated him and took a lot of water off of him. They said that they had to put him on oxygen while he was sedated because his heart is too weak. They suggested that we up his lasix to 8 pills a day and put him on a special K.D. diet, which is supposed to be good for his heart. The vet told us that Moose isn’t in good shape, which we all kind of know. He’s 16 with diabetes and congestive heart failure, what can you expect? However, some good news did come today: Moose’s glucose level was actually low, which means that his diabetes has improved and we can give him less insulin. That is a bit of good news for him!!! He should be feeling a lot better tomorrow after he gets some rest and he won’t be lugging around all of that extra fluid.

The vet said that now Moose is just sleeping and waiting to be picked up. I think my dad is going to be taking off of work early to pick him up. I feel bad for the little guy since he can’t see and he probably had no idea where he is or why he is in a cage. He probably thinks that we abandoned him.
